Frank, take a look at Ole Gray's thread, and you'll see what I'm talking about. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/cool.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='B)' />[/quote]

I get confused over the ALF's colors, my bad <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/icon_redface.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Icon_redface' />

It's okay. We're a family of discolored ALFs up here in the small town. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Jason, your 700 Series is going to be sharp once you add the BeaconRay to it. I'm impressed.

Maybe if they were all stock, standard American LaFrance Red, there would not be any confusion. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Oh, Lindsay, that's no fun. Can you imagine coming here and seeing three American LaFrances that were all the same color? People would think there was something wrong with us. For either one of us to own multiple stock, standard red American LaFrances would be too normal. We keep a "trophy" red American LaFrance, but I think you know which one(s) keeps most of my attention. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Let me suggest that the ALFs that keep your attention aren't red but other colors of the apparatus rainbow.

I might be able to get one from our parts truck. I'm pretty busy with work right now, but when I get a chance, I'll go over to where we keep it and take a look.

Well this has been a long week of fixing it up but ive been chasing a problem all week with the fuel system and will not be able to take it to the open house tomarrow like i had planned. This fuel problem is killing me first it runs great then wont run at full power. Ran great no problem Now it wont run at all!!about $600.00 and 40 hours later still nothing. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/machinegun.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Machinegun' /> Fuel problem

Don't feel discouraged. We've been having a similar problem with one of our ALF 700s. I have to remove the fuel pump this weekend and replace it. I hope the problem is that simple and it isn't something else. We had the carburetors rebuilt not too long ago, and I haven't been able to get it running right since. Of course, the carburetors are out of sync, but I can't synchronize them until the engine will run for any amount of time! Sometimes, I feel like I'm going in circles, but at least our problems are somewhat consistent: it's always been a fuel-related issue.

Oh! I haven't forgotten about the door handle you need. I apologize for not getting back with you about that. I've been swamped and haven't even had a chance to go out to the parts truck. I'll try to get out there soon.

Bruce ive already had lots of fun (other than the fuel issue) working on it. It has allowed me to stop working so much and relax and work on a project thats needs some work. I am still amazed at how good this truck runs and drives with it being 57 years old. These were so new at the time they were produced but man i see alot of things on my 50 that i see on new trucks still to this day.

Hi again Jason,Talking about how many things the 700's brought to light in the fire apparatus business. They were the first mass produced cab forward rigs produced. The cab forward JO and JOX ALF ladders kind of opened the door for the 700 but not many were produced. In all my years of chaseing fire trucks I've only seen one. After ALF hit the market with the 700's everyone eventually started building some kind of a cab ahead of engine unit.My grand parents bought me one of the toy ALF ladders (that I still have)but sadly there not alot of ALF custom rigs around where I live, most of the custom rigs were Maxims, thanks to Midwest Fire and Safety of Indianapolis. They sold a bunch of 'em!!They later sold a few ALF rigs and other company's units as well.Later after joining SPAAMFAA I found out alot more about ALF and other companys tool.Well thanks listening to my rambling on......Bruce
