June 9, 2016 Peoria, AZ - Injury Accident, 8600 W. Olive Ave

On June 9, 2016 at approximately 11:35 a.m. a large white Dodge pickup truck struck Peoria Fire-Medical Engine 194 in the area of North 79^th Avenue and West Golden Lane.  A Peoria Animal Control Officer witnessed the collision and reported it to Dispatch. The Dodge one-ton pickup then turned westbound on Olive Avenue. 


 

Meanwhile, on Olive Avenue...Peoria Police, assisted by a code enforcement officer (probably just blocking traffic) were investigating a separate collision in the 8600 block of Olive.  The code enforcement truck was parked in the westbound lanes with its emergency lights activated, with a Peoria Police motorcycle parked just in front of the code vehicle, also with its emergency lights activated.  The Dodge pickup truck from the hit-and-run on the fire apparatus subsequently struck the rear end of the code enforcement truck, struck the police motorcycle, then landed on it's side. 


 

Thankfully, no police or fire personnel were injured in the crash. The driver of the pickup truck was extricated from the vehicle and transported by ground to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries.  The code enforcement F-150 and police BMW motorcycle both sustained significant damage.  Peoria Engine 194 sustained minor damage to the rear wheel well and aft roll-up compartment door. 


 

The driver of the pickup truck was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol.
