Beautiful Mack. I think it needs a roadtrip to Florida. Bring it down and we'll get it out for a pumper run with the Mack's in our club. Will look nice with our 63, 72 and 74

Love to. Sad to say it's governed at 45 miles per hour and would take a week to get your way . <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Latest news on the Mack. Still sitting in the lot. Just talked to a FDNY mechanic who is kinda interested on working on it. Hopefully get a little work done on it and get it out for the 2007 Muster season. We just gotaa find a place to work on it. Sort of sticks out in a driveway <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

How much are they asking for the V8 Mack?

Yea. We already have a Engine 343 with the L model Mack. So I probably will redo it as E-290. I gotta call them to get some pics of 290 and see what I can do from there.

Still has a bullet hole in the pump panel. Maybe I'll leave it there for sentimental reasons. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Stay safe, Brother.

I think they are crazy for selling it. I'd love to add it to my Crown, but I'm afraid to ask what the going price would be. It is one of the nicest Mack's I've seen, and a V-8, would love to drive it.

Definitely in good shape. Beautiful rig.

But I just have this thing with 4 door Macks using the same doors front and rear. I guess being used to the FDNY style doors, I can't see anything else. Just not my preference.....

And where in the world would I park a second Mack? <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

I agree with you on the doors. We have a Mack CF that has what I call a half door, and then a grab handle on top, not a closed cab. I've never seen another like it.

Brother, I don't really mind the half doors. but i personally never liked the identical doors on Mack CF's.

1/2 doors keep the aesthetics of the canopy CF cab. I just couldnt like the identical doors on a CF.

On the plus side, ugly as they are, it did keep the Brothers safe.. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/smile.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Smile' />

Well, after sitting for over 2 years, old E-290 finally made it to the shops for repair. As you can see, it needs a good cleaning, and a few spots of bodywork. The compartment/rear fenderwells seem to have been made of bondo and are starting to sag. So new fenders/compartments and some work to get it roadworthy will be happening in the future.

With a new organization started in the FDNY, the Firefighter Brotherhood Foubdation, while I was at the charter meeting it was brought up how the job will proabably not have a caisson for any 9/11 LODD, or even a Brother who lived a good life and the family wants a rig. So old E-290 was mentioned, and hopefully will not be used for that purpose, but we are going to try and get it ready should it be needed.

Beggars can't be choosers, all of this work will be done in trade. Hence the delay. When you have to work around someone else's schedule with work being done in barter, ya take the good with the bad.

So since Nassau Fire Apparatus will be doing the work, I will be driving as many Toyne Fire Apparatus rigs from Iowa, and as many Braun Ambos back from Ohio (since they sell and repair both), along with local deliveries and pickups as well, to get my Mack ready for the muster circuit.

For certain, this ain't going to be cheap ( God, I wish I was mechanically inclined....lol), as I posted earlier, I am awaiting a call to hopefully get it on "Rescue Me" in the near future. Any money from that (and/or movies or TV shows my connection to RM can get) will make redoing the old Mack a lot easier on my wallet, and my back from all that interstate driving...lol.

Anyway Brothers, these pics were taken the other day. I actually did talk to Mr Taylor in Wysox, Pa., and have to fax him a list of what I need to make MP7917 as good as it looked the day it left Allentown. He was actually not a bad man to talk to.

Hope ya enjoy them. Stay safe, Brothers.

PS. Ed, if I took too much space, please delete the whole post, and I'll add 4 seperate ones. Thanks.
