Ashburn, Virginia Engine 6 - old and new. The old is a 1980 Hahn rehabed in 1993 by LSI. 1000/500. The "newer" Engine 6 is a 2003 Spartan Gladiator/Ferrara 1500/500 (one of four similar owned by Ashburn). This photo was taken just when the Ferrara was placed into service.

We still own the Hahn as a cemermonial/parade piece.

Carova Beach, North Carolina is located on the Outer Banx and is several miles south of the Virginia/North Carolina border. It is in Currituck County.

No roads here - the only main paved areas are the FD's short ramp and a helicopter landing zone located next to the FD. The main road of this community is actually the beach. If you don't have 4wd, you are stuck and will pay a hefty towing fee to get you unstuck. They say the richest man in town is the tow truck operator. Wild horses also roam this area.

Left to right:

Engine 735 - 1986 International S1800 4x4/Grumman Tiger Cat 1000/1000. S/n 17498.

Engine 739 - 1992 International 4800 4x4/Boardman 1000/1000. S/n F2885.

Two Ford F brush trucks also run from the FD, as well as a Ford F ambo.

Everything is 4wd here.
