1963 Ford Galaxie 500 - Fire Chief's Buggy
#41
Later in May we were one of several antique fire units in the Bon Air parade. Here's the Galaxie leading some Maxims & Macks in the line of march.

Also in May the Old Dominion Historical Fire Society was invited to participate in our first indoor car, truck and tractor show at the Keystone Tractor Works Museum in Colonial Heights, VA. What a place! Old tractors, old trucks, classic cars and fire trucks all under roof for a day that weather wise wasn't so great. The museum is now the proud owner of some really cool antique fire apparatus. Worth a look for any of you traveling through Richmond/Petersburg/Colonial Heights, VA on I-95. The museum is right along I-95 only a couple of blocks off Exit 53.

The most important ride of 2012 was at the October wedding for our youngest son who decided to do it fire department style - dress uniforms and all. That meant we needed some fire apparatus and some local friends with antique apparatus responded to the call. It was a great day with perfect weather - and fire trucks! Here's the bride and groom leaving for the reception with some of the rigs that were there that day.

It was a great event, Jack! Made better by the Goodman family of Macks in the background, of course. <img src='http://www.firepics.net/groupboards/public/style_emoticons/<#EMO_DIR#>/fireman.gif' class='bbc_emoticon' alt='Fireman' />

4th of July Parade in the Brandermill subdivision of Chesterfield County, VA in 2014. Just got the car back from the shop. After 140,000 miles and 51 years of use the radiator sprung a leak while traveling to/from Winchester in May 2014. Page Custom's was able to remove and repair the original radiator and reinstall. Still all original parts!

Abe Lincoln stopped by to check in on Sparky and to tell me he used to have a 60's vintage Galaxie too! I had no idea he even lived around here.  :o

It's been a long time since I checked out FirePics. I tried a few times over the past few years but was unable to log in to the website for some reason. My log in credentials worked today and I can see I have a lot of catching up to do! One quick photo of our '63 Galaxie Chief's Car from the Virginia Fire & EMS Memorial Service held in June 2022 at the Richmond International Raceway. Members of the ODHFS (www.odhfs.org) attended to show support for the families of the four fallen firefighters being honored this year. The Galaxie is doing well and still on the road as time permits.
