I have never had an issue with Amtrak Police, I had one officer in Boston ask me why i was taking the picture, i explained it to him and showed him the other photos in my camera. He actually made a joke and said "oh, good i thought you were taking a photo of my truck becuase i was parked on the sidewalk."

Does anyone now about the numbdering of Amtrak Police Units?

Amtrak number is as follow's:

The newer K-9 car's correspond to the officer's badge number. There maybe some number's on the east coast were the badge number is in the 500. That is due to the officer's badge number.

The other number's are as follow's

200 Series is Ny and Boston.

300 Series is Philly.

400 Series is D/C, Baltimore area.

500 Series is the West Cost unit's.

There was an Amtrak SWAT truck leaving the Virginia State Police academy the other day as I was leaving, I'll try to get through there next week and see if they're still in the area.

This is really not the ideal shot, but ya' take what you can get.

This was taken on EB I-40 just outside of Kingman, AZ back in October.  This Amtrak K-9 Expedition came up on me fast and I didn't really feel up to chasing him down to get a photo from the front... Tisktisk

So, here's the best I could get:

Amtrak Police Unit 308 (K-9)

Ford Expedition

Either out there for training, or because the car got relocated.  Very rare for a car to be relocated.  I am thinking training or a special assignment.

That's seems like a possibility, since you can go straight north from Yuma up to I-40, then head east. Long drive!
