That is actually a standard production model Explorer. The new police package ones have black grilles , different headlight assemblies and no roof rack.

Somerville (Ma.) Police, 2013 Ford Interceptor SUV, Patrol unit East 3. Somerville took delivery of 9 cruisers, 7 patrol vehicles and 2 supervisor vehicles.

I know the CHP is going to replace its fleet of CVPIs with the Interceptor SUVs. Have any of them gone in service yet?

I've only seen one, and that was at the Ripon Emergency Vehicle show, last month. I think they are still going through their stock of CVPIs.

The police department I dispatch for has 3 Ford Explorer PI's.  2 are in our standard vehicle paint scheme of white with black and gold graphics.  In January of 2016 we took delivery of our first 2 all-black vehicles.  One is a 2016 Dodge Charger, the other is this 2016 Explorer PI.  Very sharp looking!
