Any Word On New Las Vegas Rigs?
#1
Last year I was told by members at Station 1 that Las Vegas was going with Smeal for their new rigs. That was backed up earlier this year but I have yet to see anything on the new rigs. Does anybody have any information on when they will be delivered or what the statues of them is?

Smeal is very behind on them if what I've been told is true.  The penalty clause in the contract is going to cost Smeal damn near the cost of an engine...

I hate to see that, any clue how many the City of Las Vegas ordered and any projection on delivery?

There's a picture of one of the chassis on the LVF&R Facebook page from August 31st, the cabs are huge!

I'm on a computer now and can post the link; it says Spartan (yes) but they're Smeal Sirius cabs.

That makes me wonder when or if they will get the new Smeal's.

Las Vegas was at Smeal this week performing a mid point inspection on the engines they are building.  I would guess another 4 weeks until completion.

This may be old news at this point but fully lettered pictures of the first Smeal engines for LV are floating around on facebook.

I saw those from the PIO of the Las Vegas Fire Department yesterday and could not find this thread or I would have shared them. I plan on going down to Station 1 Saturday and seeing if I can get a few photos of Engine 201, that is if the weather is kind and works with me.
