That's almost a carbon copy of Fire Station 1 (McLean) in Fairfax County.

The groundbreaking for the new Anne Arundel County Station 18 (Marley) was held on Friday. The construction will likely begin in the Spring/Summer of 2011. The construction is expected to be completed in Spring 2012.

Any word on what the status is of the new Marley Station 18?

I rode past there today. They have the whole area now fenced off. Some of the ground is torn up with some construction equipment on site.

The building to the left of the photo (or it might be the one next to that one) is the Ott House, a very fire service themed bar/resteraunt, with quite an impressive collection of patches behind the bar. Been a while since I was there, could be wrong. The station has no apron whatsoever, how they get the tower in and out of there must be a feat.

I pass this station on my way to and from work almost every day, you are 100% correct there is NO ramp at all and the station sits right at a traffic light so there is always cars backed up in front of the station.. I have never seen them bring the tower out but I have seen them bring the engine-tanker out and it is a calamity. The Ott House still has some of the fire patches and stuff, the last time I was there though it seemed sort of... well sort of low brow and not what I was expecting food wise.

Prince George's County built two stations off of other jurisdictions plans. Station 10 was built from the same spec's as Fairfax County Station 1 this was a cost saving measure. Station 38 in Chapel Oaks is the same being built off the spec's of Anne Arundel County Station 5 only flipped with the dayroom, kitchen and bunkroom on the right hand side as you face it. This was done due to the immediate need for a new station 38, it cut the normal lead time for getting a station up and running in half.
