If your area has a fireboat station, please add to this thread.

Portland Fire & Rescue station 21 is a new fireboat station on the Willamette river, housing Engine 21 and Rescue Boat 21. The original station housed various land units over the years, but when Rescue Boat 21 was added a few years ago, a new station was needed. There are two separate buildings, the land fire station and the boathouse.

When new fire stations are built in Portland some type of publicly viewable artwork is mandatory.

For station 21, the artwork covers the entire exterior western wall. It represents ripples on the water.

Awesome shots of the new station.

Great view of downtown and the river.  It's good to see a pole was installed, I hope it's not just a prop.

Since most daytime activities are on the 2nd floor, it is used.

Here's an article that breaks down most of the costs.

Yes, I would say total politics too.

Boy....If I looked at that artwork on the side of the building for too long it would make me seasick...yuk!

PORTLAND STATION 6

Station 6 is on the west bank of the Willamette river, north of downtown Portland. Engine 6 is in the land station and there are 3 boathouses. The large one is for Fireboat 6R, the reserve boat. It is named the Campbell after the Chief of Department who was killed at a fire in 1911. It was built in 1927 and its main feature is an 8,000 GPM gun. One smaller station houses Fireboat 6 and the other houses Rescue Boat 6.

Seattle's Fire Station 5 has been out of service since August 2014, due to sea wall construction.  The Leschi and Fire Boat 2 have been moved to Pier 91, Engine 5 has relocated to Fire Station 2, and Rescue Boat 5 is now based at the Bell Harbor Marina.
